The VPN That Still Works in Russia
Russia's DPI filters have blocked most major VPNs. NexTunnel uses VLESS+Reality and Hysteria2 — protocols that disguise traffic as ordinary HTTPS, invisible to deep packet inspection.

Russia VPN — Questions answered
Does NexTunnel work in Russia?
Yes — VLESS+Reality and AmneziaWG both survive Russian TSPU fingerprinting. We verify connectivity daily from Russian VPS endpoints across MTS, Megafon, Beeline and Rostelecom. Connection success rate has stayed above 94% throughout the 2024-2026 TSPU rollouts.
Is using a VPN legal in Russia?
Russia restricts unauthorized VPNs under the 2017 law, but enforcement is patchy and rarely targets end users — penalties have historically been applied to operators promoting blocked content. NexTunnel does not log your activity, so we have nothing to disclose if compelled. Always review your local situation and use VPN responsibly.
Which NexTunnel server is best for Russia?
Helsinki (Finland) and Nuremberg (Germany) give the lowest latency for Russian users — typically 35-45 ms from Moscow. Dubai is the best alternative if EU routes get throttled. The dashboard auto-selects the lowest-load server; you can override per-device.
Does it bypass Russia's DPI (TSPU) system?
Yes. TSPU fingerprints WireGuard, OpenVPN, IKEv2, NordLynx and Lightway by handshake packet size and timing. NexTunnel's AmneziaWG injects random junk packets to defeat that fingerprint, and VLESS+Reality uses a real TLS handshake so packets are bit-for-bit indistinguishable from regular HTTPS browsing.
What protocols work best in Russia?
Primary: AmneziaWG (junk-packet WireGuard, defeats TSPU). Backup: VLESS+Reality (looks like real HTTPS). Tertiary: Hysteria2 over UDP/443 for path diversity when TCP is throttled. All three are active on every NexTunnel server and your client picks the best one automatically.
